Volunteer now
There are several ways you can volunteer with Healthwatch Thurrock. Volunteering can make a real difference to your own life and the lives of those around you. We want to ensure that anyone thinking about giving their time can find a volunteering opportunity which is right for them the volunteer roles include:
- Healthwatch Champion
- Healthwatch Young Person Champion
- Administration/Event management Volunteer

Why volunteer with us
- You could become a Healthwatch Thurrock Champion – by working closely with local council to help them shape the services they deliver
- You will meet a variety of people, and be very hands on. Everybody has their own strengths and abilities and you will be given the opportunity to try something new!
- You will be trained in all areas so that you will feel confident when you are in the community volunteering
- With every volunteer we carry out an enhanced DBS check to ensure the safety of everybody that you will interact with
- Healthwatch Thurrock will pay reasonable expenses as per our policy, e.g. travel expenses
- But MOST importantly you will have the opportunity to make a difference and shape the future
What volunteers do
Volunteering with us at Healthwatch Thurrock is rewarding opportunity and you can make a real difference. The role is varied and may include:
- Reaching out to individual people in the community and finding out about their views and experiences
- Enter & View (observations and report writing.) e.g. local hospitals and residential homes
- Helping at Healthwatch Thurrock events and drop ins
- Helping organise smaller events located at the Beehive
- Signposting individuals to health and social care services in Thurrock
- Webpage design and upkeep
- There are many other opportunities that we may need you to be involved in, variety is the key
Who volunteers
Our volunteers come from a variety of different backgrounds but what they generally have in common is a desire to make a difference in their community. You may already be an active member of a local charity, community group, or patient forum, in which case you can help us capture peoples voice through your own networks. All that we ask is that you are:
- enthusiastic
- committed
- willing to learn
