Celebrating a Successful Learning Disabilities Health Day in Thurrock

With around 250 attendees, the hall was buzzing with activity, community spirit, and a shared focus on supporting healthier lives. From free blood pressure checks to tailored health advice and support, the event offered practical and accessible resources to help attendees take positive steps towards better health.
A wide range of local organisations took part, including:
- Alzheimer’s Society
- St. Luke’s Hospice
- Thurrock and Brentwood Mind
- Thurrock Carers Service
- ...and many more fantastic services from across the borough and beyond.
Each stall offered something unique — from mental health support to end-of-life care guidance — creating an informative and inclusive space for everyone who came through the doors.
We were also delighted to welcome pupils from Treetops School, who added so much joy and energy to the day, as well as our local MP Jen Craft, who took time to meet with attendees and show her support for this important community event.
The feedback from both visitors and stallholders was overwhelmingly positive, with many highlighting how valuable it was to connect directly with services in such a friendly, welcoming setting.
At Healthwatch Thurrock, we believe that everyone deserves to live a healthy life and that events like this are vital in raising awareness, encouraging conversation, and breaking down barriers to access. Whether it was learning something new, having a health check, or just connecting with others, the day reminded us all how crucial it is to put health and wellbeing at the centre of our lives.
We’d like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who attended, supported, and helped make the day so special. We’re proud to be part of a community that looks out for one another — and we look forward to even more events like this in the future.
Because your health matters — and we’re here to help.
